Kiteboarding in Mauritius // Twintip & Surfboard
One of the best places I've been for Kitesurfing. This tropical island offers great conditions for twintip freeride, big air and amazing waves for the surfboard.
All the kiting is filmed in the area around Le Morne point on the South west of the island.

Average Kiter :))
Thank you very much Steven for the great job your do with these movies. You are a great teacher because you talk about so many important details that others professionals never mention - they usually just say "edge hard, pull the bar, loop it, maybe downloop it..." :D I still had to watch your videos couple times to understand why you say to pull the bar all the way down because I used to stop pulling it in the half way so I was not pulled by the kite so hard during the loop - I learned it from watching other pro hardcore loop/megaloop videos. Finally I realized that I was initiating the loop too early - around 60-70% of my jump height. That is why I was hard crashing all time because of this scary pull and speed (sometimes I landed it :D). Yesterday I practiced loops to initiate them as you said - around 90% of the height with pulling the bar all the way - and the pull from the loop was nice and easy to handle even with some extra float I did not have before and I could land it with success rate almost 100% :D I am not scared of the loops anymore and I love it. All this wouldn't be possible without your help!
I watched this video when I started practising jumps some time ago. After watching it again today, I can see that it helped me a lot. Thanks Steven!
My pleasure and thank you for taking the time to write this comment 🤙
Love and respect your blind landing style in other video's. Feel priced and left out of the modern kite market. Got bored of big air a couple of years ago, peaked at jumps between 15- 20m. Peaked at kite loops at 9m in height. Went back to leanring handle passes. Now most big brands seem to be discontinuing their modern C kites for free style. Im never gona anything special. So why would I pay 2.5k for some insane kite when all i wana nail is a back to wrapped. Big airs cool, yeah i love BUT.... i dont need a sports car, ill just be sat in traffic anyway. Give hadlow a plastic bag and he could make a surf pass look more stylish than a triple wiple diple kite loop.
The C kites are indeed being discontinued by most kite brands as the market is very small and there is little interest. They're one trick ponies with a very specific goal being unhooking (which they are damn good at) With that being said there has been very little advancement in the performance of those kites and I don't think it will be very hard to find a C kite lying on a dusty shelf somewhere that will cost way less than 2.5k. Hope you find a setup that works for you, the back to wrapped is a great trick!
Nice, never seen that variant before!
Thanks! There are a couple of riders that were already doing it, but I also didn't see it much on socials.
It's the "brezels"
😅
Fantastic. I went there in July. It was packed with people when did you go?
July does get very busy indeed. I was there from Mid april to end of June.
@@stevenakkersdijkthanks. I can see on your regular high jumps that you straighten your legs. Do you recommend to force it this way or bending them a little bit will improve kite control and center of gravity. Thank you.
I would recommend to keep a small bend in the knees for more stability.
@@stevenakkersdijk thank you
would be really cool a video about this extra rotation with the heliloop at the end, sometimes I am spinning more than I expected but not enough to land well, I do not know how to sync the heliloop with the rotation and have a faster spin to land smooth as this.
It's a rotation that took me quite long to figure out as well, but it's in the steering of the kite and creating a swing around 12 with the heli loop. You can try to do a straight kiteloop and just before the kite reaches 12 you steer it with a bigger circle around in order to initiate the rotation. Might be able to make a video about it.
@@stevenakkersdijk thanks! I think there is no video tutorial about this move in youtube, so would be fantastic to know better how to control this rotation.
How?!!!
With a lot of practise 😉
Unbelievable ❤
Glad you like it!
This is ridiculous!
Thanks I guess 😅

Glad it was helpful!
I think core noticed their mistake with the slow xr pro and now just redesigned a new model to solve the question.
I don't feel like the XR pro was a mistake as it is quite different to the PACE pro. But I do agree that this new model was something that's been missing in the CORE range.
You know it’s a good kite video when it takes 30 minutes to finish a five minute video because you keep having to rewind it to see what just happened. Love the variety!
😂 Love it! Thanks a lot 🙌

Hi Steven, Great video, and I'm really interested in a Moustache 18, but I'm having a LOT of trouble finding a supplier. I've written to Flare via their website but they've not responded. I'm in Southern Japan, and have been paragliding since 1996. I want a wing that's better suited to coastal/dune flying than the "old" paragliders I use now. Do you have any advice? Thanks, Simon
I believe that Flare does worldwide shipping from their website. Have you tried writing an email to: service@go-flare.com They've always replied to me there. Best of luck Simon, hope you get to enjoy a Moustache soon!
@@stevenakkersdijkThanks so much, and yes, I've now contacted Flare directly, and put in an order. Can't wait for it to arrive. 🪂🤩

Thanks!
Everything seems so easy and smooth. Love your style!
Thank you! 😊

Windspeed here?
It was about 35 knots gusting towards 40 on a 10m CORE Pace Pro
This is exactly what i always do…. In the old days we had to do this to get decent height, kites gotten so much better.
Jumping technique has changed indeed because of the kites, those older C kites wouldn't go high without a good whip.
Perfection!
Thank you!
Your love and passion for the sport makes me more excited to go kiting. A true pioneer of the sport. <3 from Namibia. 🐴
I'm very happy to hear that! Keep on shredding and having fun out there!
How does the Pacr compare to the GTS?
More lift making it easier to jump and land your tricks with greater height and hangtime. Turning speed they're about equal.
Nice!!! Smooth as usual!
Appreciate it!
Your name sounds like from holland
Yes, it's very Dutch 😅
style and flow
Thank you!
Soooo smooth
I try 😇
9m?
It's a 10m Pace pro, but it steers faster than most 9m kites 😅
any recommendations on where to start with looping?
연이 12시 꼭대기에 도달 직전에 강하게 컨트롤바를 당기면됩니다
Start with late back rolls lol

Steazy! I crashed all my loops today 😢.
Oh no! I hope you learned from your mistakes so you can land them in your next session 😉
I started on a quiver of XRs (19m, 15m,12m,9m,7m) and after 4-5 years I found myself wanting faster kites that were more versatile for waves and for kiting. I got a 12m and a 9m Nexus and they definitely are more versatile, they just ride a size or two smaller than when you expect. I’m 235lbs and I feel like I could take the 12m nexus out when I would take the 9m XR :) Maybe I bought the wrong sizes? But now I’m kind a confused and not sure what direction to take the quiver. I bought a 12m , 8m, 6m xlite quiver to have a super small foiling setup :)
You've tried a lot of kites! The XR is an amazing kite with the most power of all the kites in our range, it also the slowest when it comes to steering. The Pace will have more power than the Nexus but slightly less than the XR in the same size, it is insanely fast hough and speed wise I would compare it to the nexus, but with way more lift. The Nexus is the fastest of the bunch but as you mentioned it does ride a couple sizes smaller than the XR when it comes to power. Xlite is great for foiling and you'll enjoy them in the lighter winds. Depending on your level and what you're searching for the XR pro and Pace pro might deliver what you want, you could have a look to get 1 key size, the Pace is really fun in 12 10 and 9m for us heavier guys
Block Party 👌 Nice tricks !
Thanks!
Most inspirational kitesurfer out there 💯
Appreciate it!
This is bad ass. Will you make a step by step video for this? Must learn. Very steezy..
Thanks Brad! I can make a tutorial for it, but I have to say it's quite tricky as you need a lot of wind in order to do it.
@@stevenakkersdijk Sweet, Thanks that would be awesome! I am down with allot of wind.. Its been pretty dead here in utah lately but we believe it is about to pick up as the heat goes away.
Also, im assuming lots of wind needed cause you slack your lines and need the kite to drift downwind quickly. I cant tell if you are backlooping your kite or not.
@@bradbarton532 Not doing any loops with the kite, simply steering it past 12 for a normal gybe. You need a lot of wind to prevent your lines from slacking.
Awesome thanks. If the winds are strong enough I'll give this a go tomorrow at deer Creek. Thanks
music description is uncorrect.. Music is : banquet by bloc party (took me a while to find it :') )
It's done automaticaly by RUclips so I can't change it unfortunately
Clip two. No contest.
🤙
gonna buy the 10 pace, but debating on 8-9 pace or xr pro. i have a 9 xr pro now with 22m lines but it requiers a lot more wind than the 10 xr pro
How are you enjoying the 9m XR pro? If you're happy with the speed and lift this might be the better choice for you in the smaller sizes. Side note: the power of the 9m XR pro will be quite similar to the 10m Pace pro I think.
@@stevenakkersdijk yes the power of the xr pro size 9 is perfect , and the overpowerd situation even more, the only thing i sometimes dont like is so much bar pressure , Im looking for i think 10 pace and a 12 for my father(debating on nexus or something for him) The only thing is that i need to sell the xr pro in a couple of months because when the new version comes out then this kite is worth nothing anymore.. therefor also debating on the 8-9 pace
Always flawless
The ones you see yes 😉
Pretty awesome bro
Appreciate it!
Oh ok so that's how that's done. I kick of the water and land head first. Ok jump higher
You need a lot of wind in order to still have some tension on the lines when you initiate the backroll, no tension will end up with your head in the water for sure.
what earbuds are you using for music? Sick video as always...
I ride with the Openswim Pro from Shokz for the music (bone conduction) and earplugs from IARS to protect me ears from surfers ear. It's an amazing combo!
